UNITED NATIONS ASKS WORLD CITIZEN GARRY DAVIS TO "KEEP US INFORMED" IF AND WHEN INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE MAKES RULING ON HIS PETITION CITING GORBACHEV AND REAGAN AS WAR CRIMINALS

WASHINGTON, D.C.-In a letter dated 22 May 1985, Special Assistant Prvoslav Davinic to the Under secretary-general of the Department for Disarmament Affairs, recognized World Citizen Garry Davis' "considerable initiative with the international Court of Justice..." and requested that the former World War II bomber pilot "...keep us informed of any ruling which might be forthcoming from them."

Ironically, when Davis claimed "global political asylum" from the U.N. in April (see enclosed release) to await a decision from the same Court, he was summarily rejected an "banned" from entering U.N. territory again.

Davis' petition is the first citing acting Heads of State as "war criminals" under the Nuremberg Principles. He sets forth the illegality of war, that nuclear weapons imply genocide therefore both Gorbachev and Reagan, I threatening each other with such weapons are in reality threatening humanity therefore guilty under the Genocide Convention. Davinic's letter quotes the U.N. secretary-general that the prevention of a nuclear disaster "...is the pre-condition of all our endeavors."

Regarding the question of jurisdiction, Davis claims that, as the fifteen judges themselves have taken an oath to adjudicate "international law," that it both exists independent of national law and in turn recognizes them as its subjects. Therefore he claims that individuals are also its subjects and not only states.

As a candidate for "world president," Davis will hit the campaign trail on June 1st traveling by car from Washington, D.C. to Seattle.

"The American public is ready to go global," he said today from the World Service Authority office. "I am the only world peace candidate. Both Reagan and Gorbachev can only threaten each other and us with nuclear weapons. Geneva is dead. We, the world's people must now make peace."
