GARRY DAVIS, FIRST WORLD CITIZEN, CONFERS HONORARY WORLD GUARD TITLE ON GENERAL C.M. CARIAPPA, FORMER COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

OF THE INDIAN ARMY

Under the auspices of the World Conference for Peace through Unitive Understanding, being held through November 21st at the Gurukula Island Home near Ramanthali, Kerala State, under the spiritual sanction of Nataraja Guru, the First World Citizen and Coordinator of World Government, Garry Davis, conferred the title "Honorary World Guard" on General C.M. Cariappa, Commander-in-Chief, Indian Army, Retired.

In accepting the title, General Cariappa told the conference that it was the politicians who were responsible for war and not the military. "People are basically good," he said, "and don't want to fight each other and especially the soldier who knows the futility of war. One war only leads to another."

The institution of World Guards, first proposed by Nataraja Guru in the Memorandum on World Government, was formally declared by Garry Davis as part of a "World Declaration" wherein he, together with Nataraja Guru, constituted a new office entitled "Satya Dharma" (Truth Duty) to represent the principle of "One for all and all for one," the key formula of the World Government which Mr. Davis heads.

"There is a general, worldwide and artificially-created mistrust institutionalized by nationalism," declared Mr. Davis at the session devoted to World Government yesterday, "by virtue of their very exclusive character. The principle of mutual or double trust must be reaffirmed and on a global level as a precondition for a valid world civisism from which can result world peace. The role of the 'Satya Dharma' is of a spiritual or wisdom quality only with no secular power implied."

The session closed with a short address by Nataraja Guru who stressed the structural method upon which World Government is based. He then presented a World Passport to General Cariappa.
